If you find yourself pacing and endlessly distracted you may have a case of good ‘ol cabin fever. It’s okay, working from home isn’t the most exciting location, but it doesn’t have its benefits. In this case, if you’ve come down with cabin fever … aka boredom, then you likely need to switch up your routine or take a break. If that doesn’t work then here are some easy to implement strategies that will get you working from home again with ease.

STRATEGY 1

Get physical! This is a sure way to alter your body chemistry and refresh your motivation for working from home. Doing a quick work out, going for a walk, stretching, yoga, chair yoga, or Thai Chi, Chi Gong are all low impact with high reward exercises.

 

STRATEGY 2

Breathwork! This is a super fast and effective mind altering state strategy that not only gets you out of cabin fever, it has a multitude of long-term health benefits. There are tons of free video’s on YouTube or apps you can use.

 

STRATEGY 3

Music! The not so obvious yet extremely obvious strategy is music. If you are already listening to music check your station. Make sure the music playing is uplifting, the words are making you feel sad or lost, and the commercials aren’t distracting you. You can also find brain boosting tracks called Binaural Beats that stimulate the neurons that fire and wire. You can also try ASMR for a little brain enhancing R&R.

 

STRATEGY 4

Work Your Brain! Yes, you are working, but is your brain really engaged? If  you are feeling the affects of cabin fever its likely your brain is on auto-pilot and needs some vigorous stimulation to feel used and have purpose. Tools like Lumosity or Happy Neuron can give you brain exercises you wouldn’t normally encounter on a daily basis which in turn will stimulate the elasticity and get you out of your funk.
