Hi, I am Sasha, Mindset Coach and Master Healer, and I teach animal lovers how to start using their natural gifts to start a successful pet business and work with animals.

One of the questions I get asked all the time is, “How do I know what kind of animals I’m meant to work with?” It’s a good question—and an important one. Not every healer is meant to work with every type of animal. Just like people, animals have different energy, personalities, and communication styles. Some healers feel at home with domestic pets like dogs and cats, while others feel more attuned to horses, birds, or even wildlife.

When I first started my journey, I thought I’d work with all animals equally. But it didn’t take long to realize that dogs—especially small ones—called to me the most. They trusted me. They opened up to me. And I felt an overwhelming sense of purpose when I worked with them. That’s when I learned that healing isn’t just about the work—it’s about the connection. The bond. The energetic match.

So today, I want to guide you through a few ways to discover what animals you are meant to serve in your healing work.

  1. Pay Attention to Who Comes to You Look at the animals in your life. Which ones show up, again and again? Are you always being asked to watch someone’s dog? Do you keep finding yourself around cats, even if you never thought of yourself as a cat person? Maybe you’ve had encounters with wild animals that left you stunned or moved. The universe often sends us signs through repetition. Trust that.

  2. Notice Who You Feel Most Comfortable With What animals do you naturally relax around? Which ones make you feel energized or joyful? Healing starts with connection, and connection is born from comfort. Some people feel at ease with the high energy of dogs. Others find peace in the silent gaze of a horse. Your comfort zone is a clue.

  3. Reflect on Childhood Bonds What animals did you love growing up? Was there a specific pet you never forgot? Childhood memories hold powerful insights. The bonds we form with animals in our early years are often the truest indicators of where our healing energy naturally flows.

  4. Think About the Work You Want to Do Are you drawn to behavioral healing, trauma recovery, or emotional support? Different animals lend themselves to different types of healing. Dogs, for example, are great for emotional healing and companionship. Horses can mirror human emotions and help people work through trauma. Cats respond well to gentle, energetic healing like Reiki. Wildlife healing is deeply intuitive and often done at a distance.

  5. Listen to Your Body Your body always tells the truth. When you think about working with a certain type of animal, how does your body respond? Do you feel open, excited, relaxed? Or tense, uncertain, or heavy? Your body is the first receiver of energetic information—trust what it tells you.

  6. Explore Before You Decide You don’t have to know right away. One of the most beautiful things about being a healer is that it’s a journey. You might start with dogs and later discover you love working with horses. Or begin by helping feral cats and grow into a wildlife rehabilitation path. Give yourself space to try, learn, and evolve.

  7. Let the Animals Choose You This may sound strange, but it’s very real: animals will choose you. They’ll come into your life, sometimes in unexpected ways, and teach you. Guide you. Show you how to heal them and yourself. Be open to that. It’s part of the sacred exchange that happens in this kind of work.

Knowing your healing path isn’t about following rules—it’s about listening to your heart and letting your energy lead. The animals you are meant to help will feel like a missing piece, like home. And when you find them, everything will start to make sense.
